In the news: Asbestos rule DHS 159 now final and
will be effective May 1, 2009


The Department of Health Services newly revised asbestos rule, DHS 159, will affect Wisconsin contractors conducting renovations, demolitions, removals and insulating activities.  Many building products may contain asbestos, including, but not limited to:

Vermiculite and insulation
Window Glazing and caulking
Plaster and drywall joing compounds
Transite siding
Roofing materials
Asphalt and vinyl floor tile
Sheet flooring and linoleum
Mastics and adhesives
Ceramic Tile adhesives
Duct wrap and pipe insulation

If your work involves disturbing, replacing or removing and of these known or suspect materials, you are required to use a certified asbestos company to test and remove these materials for you.
