Advanced Health & Safety holds annual training programs for all maintenance and custodial staff within schools. At a minimum, OSHA 1910.1001(j)(7) requires these staff members to have a basic 2 hour Asbestos Awareness training. This training must be refreshed annually.
Additionally, according to OSHA 1926.1101(k)(9), any maintenance and custodial staff who perform Class III asbestos operations (repair and manintenance operations that are likely to disturb asbestos) must take the 16 hour Operations and Maintenance Course. This training must be refreshed annually.
Lastly, AHERA requires that school districts have a Designated Person who is knowledgable in asbestos.
