In the news: Asbestos rule DHS 159 now final and
will be effective May 1, 2009


The Department of Health Services newly revised asbestos rule, DHS 159, will affect Wisconsin contractors conducting renovations, demolitions, removals and insulating activities.  Many building products may contain asbestos, including, but not limited to:

Vermiculite and insulation
Window Glazing and caulking
Plaster and drywall joing compounds
Transite siding
Roofing materials
Asphalt and vinyl floor tile
Sheet flooring and linoleum
Mastics and adhesives
Ceramic Tile adhesives
Duct wrap and pipe insulation

If your work involves disturbing, replacing or removing of these known or suspect materials, you are required to use a certified asbestos company to test and remove these materials for you.

ASBESTOS


Found in many structures built before 1980, asbestos is often discovered during renovation, remodeling or demolition.

Because certain varieties of asbestos do not burn, they were used for making fireproof materials, electrical insulation, roofing, etc.

Although a homeowner is not required to remove asbestos containing materials, the presence of asbestos may create a hazard if exposed. Removal may be necessary to eliminate this danger.

Commercial property owners are required to remove asbestos where it is exposed and/or poses a hazard.

Safe and complete asbestos removal requires knowledge and experience. Advanced Health & Safety has that knowledge and experience to safely remove any asbestos found in a building.
